San Ignacio and the Cayo district have a wealth of activities for visitors to choose from. The Midas Tropical Resort sits on the bank of the beautiful Macal River, with the cabanas just 100 yards from the water’s edge. That means guests can easily go for a refreshing swim or watch the famous Belize wildlife without leaving the property. In addition, scenic walks and hikes are easily accessible along the river’s edge and surrounding area. One of the more popular walks is down the Branch Mouth Road to the convergence of the Macal and Mopan Rivers, forming the Belize River. This setting hosts a small park, perfect for picnicking and swimming. From here you can cross the Mopan River via the "Hammock Bridge". On the other side is an uphill path, leading to the village of Santa Familia. |
